About Anja Ipp

Anja Ipp is a lawyer and policy advisor specializing in climate change and environmental law. She serves as a senior policy advisor at the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, Sweden's largest and most respected environmental NGO, where her work focuses on international climate policy, UNFCCC negotiations, and climate litigation. She is also co-founder of Climate Change Counsel, a consultancy dedicated to advancing climate law.

Previously, Anja worked as a disputes lawyer in the New York office of a global law firm and at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. Her diverse experience includes a clerkship at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and six years at policy think tanks in Afghanistan and Washington, DC. She holds a JD from Columbia University and an LLM in International Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam.

Anja is a sought-after speaker and a skilled writer and editor. Her publications include the edited volume Investment Arbitration and Climate Change (2024), the research study The Energy Charter Treaty, Climate Change and Clean Energy Transition (2022), and numerous articles on climate law, including Regime Interaction in Investment Arbitration: Climate Law, International Investment Law and Arbitration (2022).

With roots in Sweden and Poland, Anja came to the United States in college. She now lives in Stockholm with her (also New American) husband and two sons, but maintains strong ties to California and New York.
