About Anna Bershteyn

Anna Bershteyn is an Associate Professor of Population Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. Her lab uses simulation science to inform public health decision-making at the interface of infectious diseases and other health conditions. She collaborates with local public health agencies, health authorities in other countries (eSwatini, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe), and international agencies such as the World Health Organization. 

She previously received a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studying HIV vaccine discovery. She founded and led the HIV/Tuberculosis modeling team at the Institute for Disease Modeling, now part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Anna is an immigrant from Kyiv, Ukraine and now lives with her family in Queens, New York. They enjoy bicycle adventures and fostering animals from local shelters.
