About Juan Jofre

Juan Jofre Lora is the Founder and Principal of Estudio Esmero, an Associate Professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and a Registered Architect in the state of New York and New Jersey.

Prior to founding Estudio Esmero, Juan worked for several renowned firms, including A+I, Tod Williams & Billie Tsien, Weiss/Manfredi, Studio Libeskind, and KPF. He has also participated in multiple public exhibitions, and was the Research Coordinator for OfficeUS, the American Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Biennale.

Juan was the inaugural recipient of the Fellow in Design at the School of Architecture in the University of Texas, a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow, and the recipient of the Taconic Fellowship, amongst other awards. He pursued his graduate degree in Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he was the recipient of the Thesis Prize.

He was born in Bogota, Colombia and immigrated to the United States in 1996.
