Mubeen Shakir is the Chief Quality and Safety Officer for OU Health, The state of Oklahoma's only comprehensive academic health system with 80+ multispecialty clinics, Level 1 Trauma Center, Oklahoma Children's Hospital, and NCI Designated Cancer Center. He is physician executive over clinical performance with oversight of quality and process improvement, value based care, regulatory accreditation, infection prevention, and patient safety. During his tenure at OU Health, the system has undergone key transformative initiatives to advance core outcomes for patients. He work has been recognized by Modern Healthcare and Becker's Healthcare.

Mubeen returned to Oklahoma, his home state, after completing his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Internal Medicine where he led the simulation curriculum and developed the health policy concentration within the residency. During his training he served as Special Assistant to the Commission of Health for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as an Administrative Fellow at Iora Health.

He holds an M.D from Harvard Medical School, cum laude, where he was chosen as the graduating class commencement speaker. He earned a Masters of Public Policy and an M.Sc in Medical Anthropology from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma, summa cum laude.
