About Nathán Goldberg Crenier

Born and raised in Mexico City, Nathán Goldberg Crenier fell in love with soccer when the 2002 World Cup delayed his kindergarten start times so kids and parents could watch the morning games together as they took place halfway across the globe in Korea and Japan. Soccer then opened the door for Nathán to come study in America; at 13, he moved to Austin, Texas as a boarding student to join the St. Stephen’s Episcopal School soccer academy where he graduated as captain of the team.

In college, Nathán played for and captained the D1 varsity men’s soccer team at Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude and earned the university’s first-ever joint degree in philosophy and statistics. Committed to leveraging the power of soccer to serve as a catalyst for social change, Nathán began his career in sports as the special assistant to two U.S. Soccer presidents.

After his time at U.S. Soccer, Nathán was the assistant general manager and chief soccer officer at Gotham FC. Within one year, he transformed the last-place team into National Women’s Soccer League champions, earning a place on Sports Business Journal’s New Voices Under 30 list.

Nathán returned to U.S. Soccer in 2024 upon winning election as the Federation’s vice president. Elected with 75 percent of the vote, he became one of the youngest elected officials in U.S. Soccer history. Nathán also holds a fellowship at the Global Sports Initiative within the Harvard Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, where he conducts original academic research at the intersection of sports and social issues.

Outside of soccer, Nathán was inspired to become politically engaged immediately after receiving his American citizenship in 2018. He became the first data volunteer on Beto O’Rourke’s Senate campaign in Texas and relied on that experience to cofound Bluebonnet Data, a nonprofit that recruits and trains people with data backgrounds to volunteer on down-ballot campaigns. After deploying more than 1,500 volunteers across hundreds of campaigns, Bluebonnet Data was recognized in the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Nathán is also a cofounder of The Boarding School, a nonprofit that supports young people serving on boards of organizations that affect their lives. In this role, he has managed and advised successful campaigns for multiple university boards of trustees, including electing the first petition candidates at Harvard since the 1980s.
