About Nina Shen Rastogi

Nina's career connects the worlds of tech, business, and editorial. She currently works in user experience design at Google.

Previously, as a senior content strategist at Facebook, Nina focused on complex, highly visible projects related to social impact and transparency, including Facebook's COVID-19 Information Center, product development for the Oversight Board, and the twice-annual Community Standards Enforcement Report, which detailed how Facebook and Instagram were doing at preventing and taking action on content that went against their policies.

Before that, Nina was one of the first members of Amazon's Alexa marketing team and helped develop social writing programs for Kindle. She was the VP of Content for the award-winning teen literary site Figment.com, a writer and editor for Slate, a Shakespeare and comics editor, and a high school English teacher. She also wrote a popular Game of Thrones column for New York Magazine for six seasons, which is where all her Twitter followers come from.

As a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow, Nina received an MA in cultural reporting and criticism from New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. She graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University with a BA in English and also holds an MA in Shakespearean studies from King's College London and the Globe Theatre, where her dissertation on binary concepts in Measure for Measure was awarded a mark of distinction.

Nina was born in the United States to parents who have since become American citizens. Her mother is from Taiwan and her father is from India.
