About Rahul Rajkumar

RAHUL RAJKUMAR is the Founder and CEO of Accompany Health, a company that provides complete, dignified, and integrated in-home medical, mental health, and social care to underserved communities in the U.S.

Rahul has spent the last 15 years of his career working to improve the quality and efficiency of health care in the U.S. by transforming both the way that we pay for and deliver health care—broadly, shifting the U.S. to a high-performing, value-based based health care system.

Previously, he was Deputy Director for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Blue Cross North Carolina, and Chief Operating Officer of Optum Care Solutions.

Rahul was born in New York City to naturalized parents of Indian heritage.

Rahul holds both JD and MD degrees from Yale University. He received his BA, cum laude, with distinction in history, from Yale University in 2000. He completed an internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

As an undergraduate Rahul served as president of the Yale University's South Asian Society and as a varsity member of Yale University's debate team. As an intern at the South Asia Human Rights Documentation Centre in New Delhi, Rahul co-authored a book on the living conditions and the legal status of Afghan refugees in India.

Rahul has published over 30 peer reviewed articles, including research on payment reform in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Rahul and his wife, Kiran, live in Bethesda, MD with their three children.
