About Yakir Reshef

Yakir was born in Jerusalem and spent his early life in Israel. After four years in Kenya, during which time his parents pursued medical and public health work, his family moved to the USA, where he eventually studied mathematics at Harvard College. After graduating he spent 3 years in his native Israel, first as a software engineer and later as a Fulbright scholar in the department of mathematics and computer science at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He then returned to the USA to enroll in the Harvard-MIT MD/PhD program, where he completed a PhD in computer science in 2018 and an MD in 2020, followed by residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology. He is currently a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, where his group uses cutting-edge statistical and artificial intelligence techniques to decode the molecular signatures of inflammation with the goals of customizing treatment for patients with autoimmune disease and discovering new potential treatment mechanisms for resistant disease.
