About Celina Yong

Celina Yong is an interventional cardiologist and health disparities researcher. She was born to parents who immigrated from Singapore to Canada, who then brought her as a child to immigrate to the US.

After completing her MBA at Oxford University and an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing at the London School of Economics on a British Marshall Scholarship, Dr. Yong earned her MD from Stanford University School of Medicine. She then completed internal medicine residency at UCSF and cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Stanford. She currently serves as Director of Interventional Cardiology at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center and Associate Professor at Stanford University.

Dr. Yong’s research focuses on improving equity and outcomes among patients with cardiovascular disease, including use of novel interventions and technologies to address disparities. She also actively leads research and programmatic efforts to build equity in the field of medicine, including founding the Stanford Advancement of Women in Medicine Program. Dr. Yong serves on the editorial board for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and on the California ACC Board of Directors. She has co-authored national guidelines and scientific statements on behalf of the ACC, AHA, and SCAI.
