About Lisa Halpern

Lisa was born in Seattle, Washington. Her father was born in Canada; her mother, the child of Holocaust survivors, was born in a displaced persons camp in Germany.

Lisa graduated from Duke University summa cum laude with degrees in economics and public policy. As an undergraduate at Duke University, Lisa was a Faculty Scholar in the Department of Economics and earned a Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Assistantship in Economics. She was President of the Public Policy Majors Union and a recipient of Duke’s Community Action Award. Lisa attended the Harvard Kennedy School where she was awarded a Kennedy Fellowship and received a Master in Public Policy with concentrations in health policy and leadership. 

Lisa has worked in media and health-related settings including government, non-profit and business. As a doctoral student in Public Policy at Carleton University, she will continue to build upon her knowledge and interest in international public policy issues and comparative health systems.
