About Richard Mora

Richard Mora is a professor of sociology at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Richard is the son of Mexican immigrants. He was born and spent his childhood in Los Angeles, California.

He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with high honors from Harvard College, a Master's degree in Education from the University of Michigan, a Master's degree in Sociology from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University. His research areas include masculinities, youth, schooling, and juvenile justice. Richard teaches courses on masculinities, youth cultures, immigrant youth, the sociology of violence, and the sociology of education. He is the recipient of numerous teaching awards.
