The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships Featured On The Otherhood Podcast

Listen to the Otherhood episode here: The ‘Secret Society’ Of Extremely Successful First Gens
Public Radio International’s (PRI) Rupa Shenoy takes an in-depth look at The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans in episode two or season two of her podcast: Otherhood. Otherhood focuses on the experiences of immigrants and children of immigrants in the United States, making it a great show to cover the Fellowships. Rupa interviewed Daisy M. Soros and 2001 Fellow Pardis Sabeti, and she joined Director Craig Harwood and Deputy Director Yulian Ramos as they called several of the 2016 Fellows to tell them that they had won the fellowship.
Here’s the episode description: (Season 2, Episode 2) Many of the most successful immigrants and kids of immigrants in the country know each other and hang out. They belong to a community created by Paul and Daisy Soros, who have funded the graduate educations of 550 first gens — including Pardis Sabeti, a geneticist called a “genius” by Time. Sabeti also happens to be a rock star. Otherhood talks to her about the immigrant imperative to give back, even after a devastating accident that made her reassess life. ∎
